Barnsley Astoria Centre

The organ is the 1934 three manual Compton organ built originally for the Astoria Cinema, Purley. It came to Barnsley from the City School, Sheffield.

Apart from concerts the organ is used for weekly Wednesday afternoon tea dances from 1 to 4 pm and the organ is bookable for private practice for a reasonable fee to cover cost.

The Astoria is convenient being only about 1 mile from M1 junction 37 (from south) and about 2 miles from junction 38 (from north). It has disabled facilities, on site free parking and they serve food, drinks and ice cream at all events.

They also do restoration work there in their workshop.
