Latest news from Peel Green

The LTOT Heritage Centre at Peel Green was due to close at the end of this year. The reasons include lack of volunteers willing to help, increased costs and reduced income resulting in the fact that running of the centre is no longer viable.

Update from Ronald Whalley, 29th September – Immediately after the release of the news of the impending closure of the Heritage Centre, we received many e-mails of understanding, a couple of which carried ideas worthy of exploration.

One of these pointed out that the discontinuity of theatre organ shows in the North West would most likely further undermine the relationship with our Members and supporting audiences.
Concurrently we had agreed a timescale for the repair of the Stockport Wurlitzer and it appears that completion by the end of March 2026 is a strong possibility.

As a consequence, the Trustees have proposed that the weekly shows at the Heritage Centre continue until the end of March 2026.

We are continuing to explore all options and possibilities for the future and will advise our Membership and supporters as and when we have any news. The Trust is still looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support the future of all aspects of LTOT activities, both at the Heritage Centre and at Stockport town hall. Please e-mail for further information, or call in at the Heritage Centre on any Wednesday.
