Today saw the unveiling of one of Blackpool's famous heritage trams renamed after our very own Reginald Dixon. Reg as he was fondly known, was best known for his time spent as our Ballroom organist, having held the position for 40 years.
Reg was a household name during his years at the Blackpool Tower, with live broadcasts of his performances being aired each week during the summer season for many years on the BBC Light Programme, now Radio 2.
The Blackpool Tram was officially renamed at 2pm today by Reginald Dixon’s daughter, Jill Steel who is pictured here alongside our Principle organist Phil Kelsall. The ceremony was followed by an inaugural tram journey to celebrate the occasion. 🎉
